Teton Fishing Float Tube Review

Teton Fishing Float Tube Review - Is it worth it?

If you are just getting started with float tube fishing, then Teton inflatable fishing float tube is for you. It’s sturdy, comfy, buoyant, and, most importantly, cheap.

It’s the cheapest option from Classic Accessories. Despite being cheap, it showed remarkable results that I didn’t anticipate at such a low price.

Its performance and design make it worth every penny. So, people tight-on their budget can enjoy the luxury of fishing in a float without emptying their pockets. And if you seem to like this one, you can eventually move to pricer options for better comfort, storage, and stuff. This is a win-win for everyone.

It saves a ton of your money, plus you realize whether you like it or not. Take my words seriously – If you want a recreational tube that you can occasionally use (few times a year), this is perfect.

But if you are a fishing enthusiast who wants it for serious fishing, it’s not the best option. It may work for a while, but not too long. Remember, you get what you pay for!

For serious fishers, I will recommend checking CumberlandBighorn, or Togiak, which are better options from Classic Accessories(CA). Anyway, let’s move on to my review.

So, many people requested me to review the Teton tube, and I thought, why not! So, without further ado, let’s get started.

My Review on Teton Float Tube –

Should I buy Teton Fishing Float Tube? My full review on this float tubeThe initial impression was good; the warp material is of good quality, the seams are durable, storage pockets in easy access locations, and it’s damn light.

Weighing only 8.5 lbs, it’s the lightest fishing float from CA. You can easily carry it from your truck to the shoreline without dropping a sweat.

Of course, you can use the side handles for the purpose, but that’s not needed unless you are taking it out of the water. The only place where it lacks a bit is the overall design.

Although it’s best for the price, I think it can be improved. It looks very basic and weak compared to other tubes, which isn’t something I appreciate.

I am not saying it isn’t good, but after trying all the tubes from CA, I can see what’s sacrificed here: cup holders, plenty of pockets, D-rings, material quality, and the seat.

The seat is much lower in the water, which I personally don’t like. It ruins the experience and lessens the time you’ll spend in the water.

However, you can place a floating cushion underneath to solve the problem OR wait, save some money, and get a better float like Cumberland or Bighorn.

Even though the seat is low, the backrest here is very comfortable. You can sit up, sit back, and recline while being comfortable along the way.

It’s so comfortable that I sometimes just went in the water to relax, which is definitely a big plus here.

This tube offers plenty of storage options(five pockets to be exact) to store your fishing gear and other accessories. It has two pockets on each armrest and one big pocket on the backrest.

They can store your disgorgers, small bait boxes, tackle, etc. For the bigger items, the backrest pocket is the very option. It is easily accessible by one body twist, but make sure not to put anything you don’t want to get wet.

Another great option is the D-ring on both sides, where you can attach your retractable net, stringer, and other gears. And finally, for your rod, it has a velcro rod holder that works nice.

So, it has enough storage available here. If, however, you want more storage options Cumberland and Bighorn is a great alternative.

When inflated, it’s 42.5″L x 40″W x 18.5”H, but it packs around 7.5″L x 16″W x 11.5″H once deflated. That will be the closest you can get to the size of the float when deflated.

There is a stripping apron with a fish ruler on the front that goes above your lap once you sit inside. You can put the fishes there and get a quick look at how long they are.

It basically tells you how good your game is going. Plus, it provides front support. This thing is fairly good for; still, deep water floating or fishing, but not for rivers with varying levels of water.

If you are planning to go to a river with this, don’t! Things might not work or even get worse.

The only problem I had here after sitting low in the water is its slow deflation. It doesn’t have a quick deflate valve, so it’s slow to take the air out.

That really sucks unless you have an automatic pump that deflates too. I use the Airhead 12v pump, and it works great. You can even check my review on the Airhead 12v pump if you want.

So, What’s my Take?

I think I have made it clear earlier, but let me repeat it. If you want a fishing float tube for occasional use in still water, this is perfect. It fits right into the budget and has perfect comfort and storage for you.

It’s lighter and keeps you low in the water, so you feel connected. Plus, you can also use it to comfortably recline and relax in the water.

However, if you want to use it more often, that too in different water bodies, then it’s not for you. It’s a light-duty tube, so it doesn’t work effectively in high-pressure water.

I hope you got my point. For serious fishers, Cumberland and Togiak is a much better option. You can check my Cumberland float tube review and Togiak float tube review to decide the best option for you.

What do I like?

What is the features of Teton fishing float tube So, what are the things I like about this tube? Well, there are a couple of things; let’s discuss them below.

1. Plenty of Storage –

The first thing we want in a fishing float tube is storage, and this tube has plenty of it. You get five storage pouches, four D-rings, and one velcro rod holder for storing your gears.

It really does a great job of holding the essentials safely. The small items go in the armrest pockets, while big ones are better in the backrest pocket. The others get hold of the D-rings.

I am pretty much happy with the storage here.

2. Budget-friendly

The biggest plus of this tube is its price, which fits right in everyone’s budget. This tube is like the golden key for everyone to experience a completely new world.

If you are a fisher who wants to try float fishing but don’t want to spend too much, this is for you. If you are going fishing with your uncle ben but want to add a little twist to the trip, this is for you.

If you like to recline on the comfy backrest and relax in the water, this is for you. And finally, if you want to catch some good fish for evening snacks, this is for you.

It is a complete value for money.

3. Easy to carry –

This tube weighs 8.5 pounds, that’s it! So, it’s hell easy to carry down the path and throw in the water than other tubes. Even kids can easily carry and throw it in the water.

There are side handles on both sides to move it, but that’s most useful in the water. Carrying and transportation is a breeze here.

4. Comfortable and Sturdy –

The backrest here is very much comfortable; you can literally relax on there. It supports the back extremely well and makes sure you have a comfortable fishing experience.

Coming to its material, it’s a bit thin compared to pricer floats but is sturdy enough to withstand good pressure in still water. Believe me; it doesn’t pop up often like the cheap floats, which is impressive and amazing.

What I don’t like?

What are some cons of Teton fishing float tube that you know

1. Deflation is difficult –

Its valve has some type of problem, I guess, but the deflation takes more time than I expected. It isn’t so cool, but for this price, I am fine with it. If, however, you have an automatic inflator/deflator pump, you are fine, my friend.

The pump will deflate it quickly, but with the hand, it takes time.

2. Only for light use –

This tube is only good for light use, i.e., occasional use in still water, but it won’t last too long if you take it for heavy use. Like, if you use it too often or in the river, then it will wear down faster than you think.

People Review About Teton Tube

“So far, so good! At this point I don’t really have anything bad to say, it’s held up well against what I’ve thrown at it. I did my research though and knew what I was getting into before it arrived. You sit partially in the water in this, your not up out of the water like some of the nicer more pricier options out there, but this can also help. I went out on a windy day with a good current with 3-4 buddies who all had $300+ tubes, each sitting tall and pretty out of the water. Well 30-45 mins into it they all realize I’m zipping around with not a care about the wind while they are fighting the whole way. And I’ve caught just as many, most times more fish that they do also, it’s about knowing your equipment folks and how to get the best out of it!”

“I got this to relax in at the river and lake. I didn’t get it to fish. I LOVE IT. Sit up or sit back and recline. It’s up to you, but its soooo comfortable. All it was missing was a cup holder for my adult beverage. But the pockets held a water bottle just fine.

This held up to a week of relaxed and active floating at the lake. Even held up to the kids climbing all over it while I was trying to relax in it. And being tossed around the back of the truck with a load of firewood. So much better than a traditional river tube, no worries of it getting popped, and I didnt have to reinflate it all week – not once. It is strong; it held my husband, who is 340 pounds, with no issue. It held me with a kid on my lap. This thing is great.”

This float can carry up to 250lbs, which is pretty impressive considering it only weighs 8.5 lbs itself.

What is the size of this float inflated and deflated?

When inflated, it’s 42.5″L x 40″W x 18.5”H, but it packs around 7.5″L x 16″W x 11.5″H once deflated. The dimensions when deflated can differ depending on how much you squeeze it down.

Is the bar that goes across the front of the seat removable?

Yes, this is a horizontal PVC bar that goes around this material to keep the bladders in position and make sure it works efficiently. But when using this tube, you have to make sure the bar is on there; otherwise, it won’t work.

Conclusion
